Both the lecturers under Faculty of Business Studies were fired on Sunday evening via a DU Syndicate meeting. Two teachers from Dhaka University’s accounting and information system department have been relieved from their duties for staying abroad without permission from the university.
Nusrat Farah and Mohammad Shariful Islam, both lecturers under Faculty of Business Studies were fired on Sunday evening via a DU Syndicate meeting, with DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof M Akhtaruzzaman in chair.
Confirming the matter, pro-VC (academic) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal also said that another teacher, Assistant Professor Anup Kumar Saha, of the same department, was permitted to rejoin the university after almost two years, following a year old high-court order.
Besides, a five-member inquiry committee headed by Prof Maksud was formed to find out the reason behind the information lack and delay of Anup Kumar’s not joining after court order. Anup Kumar was sacked on October 2, 2018, for allegedly using his doctorate to join the ranks of assistant professors before completing his PhD.
However, a High Court judge declared the decision of the university authorities invalid and ordered the reinstatement of the teacher on November 25 last year.
