The Indian government has banned a total of 43 mobile apps, fearing that India’s ‘sovereignty and security’ could be compromised. Incidentally, most of the apps that have been banned are Chinese apps and they are dating related.
The popularity of dating apps has increased considerably lately. The use of this app is also increasing among the youth. It remains to be seen whether the central government will come under fire for banning those apps.
These mobile apps have been banned under Section 69A of the Indian Information Technology Act, sources in the Information Technology Ministry said on Tuesday. The Indian Cyber Crime Co-ordination Center warned that the use of these mobile apps could jeopardize the country’s security, defense and sovereignty.
App related experts say that dating apps like other mobile apps are quite popular now. Many Chinese apps have been banned in Ladakh as a result of China’s row with India.
According to experts, now China has taken a new approach to ‘spying’ through various ‘popular’ dating apps. They also think that it is possible to trap people easily through these apps.
